COVID-19
COVID-19 is changing the way we do business. In this ever-changing environment we are continuing to update and improve our policies to best protect our athletes, coaches and families. Please read the latest updates on our policies and procedures below:
August 19, 2020
Good afternoon,
I wanted to send this email to give updates and clarifications with regards to our Covid-19 policies and procedures. With the start of school upon us we are seeing new situations and exposures popping up. In this ever-changing environment we must also adapt to what is happening in our community to do our best to keep our athletes, coaches, and families safe and healthy.
First, ALWAYS be aware and cautious. If at any time you feel your child is showing symptoms of Covid, or if they have been around someone who is suspected of having Covid, we ask you to email/Groupme (private message) your coach and stay home. These absences are considered excused.
Second, we ask you to communicate with Carolyn anytime you are concerned or need clarification regarding attendance or policies.
Third, be proactive and considerate. If you receive a notification from school stating your child has been listed as someone who has potentially or actually been exposed please share that information directly with Carolyn. We have a contact-tracing document which we update and use as a directive toward changing team practice times, use of which floors or rooms, or if we need to modify any portion of practice.
How are are changing and working to keep our kids active @ Rockstar:
* If you received an email/phone call identifying your child as a person who was in close contact with a known positive person you MUST call/email Carolyn.
* If you were identified as a person in close contact you may return to cheer IF you receive a negative Covid test AFTER day 10 of exposure OR you quarantine for 14 days from date of known exposure.
*If your school closes but you did NOT receive specific communication regarding your child you are GOOD to attend practices.
Lastly, I hope we will all join together to help our season to be uninterrupted and to allow our kids to achieve their greatest possible success.
Rock On!

How are are changing and working to keep our kids active @ Rockstar:
- We are now asking everyone who enters Rockstar to wear a face covering of the nose and mouth. This is for the protection of ALL who enter the building.
- Requiring masks is the most important and substantive intervention we can take, along with frequent and thorough hand washing and sanitizing.
- We are continuing to screen temperatures for anyone who enters Rockstar. But, recognize young people tend to be asymptomatic.
- Once you are in the lobby we are working to move the athletes into the large gym onto their assigned floor as quickly as possible; thus, limiting exposure outside of their team.
- Masks will be required for all - think drop-off to pick up. We have been requiring masks for mark-through routines (when athletes must count out loud) and when stunting. This is typically 1.25 hours of our 2 hour practice time slot but with the escalation within our community, we must do our best to be part of the solution.
- Athletes will not be required to wear masks while running outdoors.
- We will remain closed for all viewing except for a few specialized situations.

GYM OPEN/CLOSE UPDATES
3/25 Statement
Hey everyone!
I hope this update is finding everyone safe and healthy. Adjusting to our new normal is a daily goal. Let me share a few key things we've learned:
Today I have been working in goMotion on accounts. I have removed everyone from any additional classes; for example, flight, conditioning, tumbling, etc. You may or may not have received an email showing your removal from the class.
goMotion: goMotion is set to upgrade sometime today or tomorrow. During this upgrade all account balances will move over and will be viewed differently, and hopefully, more easily. Once the balances are moved over I will still have additional adjustments to make on accounts. As I work through accounts I will email any questions to families individually.
Tryouts:
Registration for tryouts is underway. You may register via gomotion or through the link at the bottom of the page. New this year is ByPass Tryouts which means you agree to be placed on the same level you competed this season; for example, if you were on B-52s (junior level 1) you bypass tryouts to remain level 1.
This season we are doing several things to put Rockstar Cheer Atlanta into a more competitively successful season.
At this time Rockstar will remain closed. We remain hopeful that we could return to an abbreviated schedule of classes with limited number of participants some time in April. We will obviously take our direction from the health authorities and government officials.
A sincere thank you to all of you to have donated money toward the coaches. Every single dollar makes a huge difference to them. Like so many others the effects of this crisis hits hard. It is so reassuring to know there are those who are willing to pay it forward. One beautiful side note of this situation is the generosity and compassion of others.
I hope we all can take advantage of this time out given to us. Our lives are all so fast paced, filled with deadlines and our schedules are full. For me, I am using this time for personal and professional development, taking time to read publications that have been on my "to do" list for what seems like forever, and working on my outdoor garden. And, I am having dinner before 9pm! lol!
Please stay safe and healthy, join some classes, and make an opportunity to connect with each other. We love and miss you all!
WANT TO JOIN ANY OF OUR ZOOM CLASSES???
Send an email to carolyn@rocktarcheeratlanta.com and we will add you to our groupme page where we upload class meeting id and passwords daily.
3/19 Statement
Let me kick off this email with a big THANK YOU to all of our families for being patient and working with us as we all navigate our ever-changing environment.
Rockstar Cheer Atlanta will remain CLOSED through Saturday, March 21st for all full year and half year squad practices and all group classes. We will have limited office hours of 12-3 Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
We will allow private lessons to continue with the following guidelines:
1) No more than 3 students in one private lesson.
2) Coaches are required to submit lesson schedule for approval to allow us to control overall numbers in the gym of no more than 25 people in the facility including coaches, parents and athletes.
3) Athletes and coaches will be required to wash hands with soap and water for 20+ seconds before AND after the lesson.
4) All mats and area will be disinfected after each lesson.
5) Athletes, coaches and anyone entering the building must be healthy and symptom free.
6) All lessons should be scheduled directly with the coach of your choice.
Stay Strong!
Beginning Monday, March 16th we will be uploading conditioning, jump and/or flexibility exercises through our Rockstar Instagram, @rockstarcheeratlanta, and through team groupme.
Our kids have worked so hard for months and the training should not end today. We all recognize all-star squad practices are not conducive to the 6-foot social distancing that is being recommended but our athletes need to stay strong and healthy during their time away from the gym.
Want more??
USASF will also upload fun and engaging 30 minute videos through their USASF Cheer & Dance facebook, twitter and Youtube channels. These videos will be focused on fitness, flexibility, and fun dances. Each day will bring a new class and a new teacher.
Competitions
As of today, we are still waiting for an official update from USASF and Varsity for what the remainder of our season will be. Any decisions regarding competitions being rescheduled and if we can or will participate will be communicated directly with the team involved through their groupme page. As of today, the ACDA/Birmingham competition has no reschedule information. Canam is proposed to reschedule to a later date. There is no information about Emerald Coast, US Finals, Summit or Worlds.
Data and information changes by the hour and we are working behind the scenes to keep Rockstar healthy and informed. As soon as we receive any updates or more information we will send communication through this platform as well as groupme.
Rock On!

Hey everyone!
I hope this update is finding everyone safe and healthy. Adjusting to our new normal is a daily goal. Let me share a few key things we've learned:
- all of our kids are obsessed with snacks
- the adults love food so much that we actually started a facebook page titled, Cooking Like a Rockstar. Ask to join if recipes or cooking is your thing
- coaches are learning a totally new skill set - virtual coaching requires different language to be effective
- we need to have a zoom class just to catch up with everyone - no skills or lessons - just talking!
- everyday is like a yo-yo - some ups and some downs
- we are all resilient
- cheer is infectious
- goals do not stop just because you cannot get to the gym
- we are averaging 20+ athletes joining the virtual classes
- WHO WOULD LIKE A PARENT CONDITIONING CLASS? I know with all of this cooking I am doing I NEED one!

This season we are doing several things to put Rockstar Cheer Atlanta into a more competitively successful season.
- Placement: It all starts with team placement. Our goal is to place athletes where their confidence is greater than their stress, where competition-ready equals confidence in NAILING a routine with performance and skill.
- Competition Schedule: We have chosen competitions with a purpose - a mix of large and small, both one and two day events, and different locations. We have mixed up our events so we do not compete against the same programs every weekend.
- Choreography: We have selected to go with a professional company for choreography. We are hiring them for the season with an all-inclusive package which includes, 10 hours of routine choreography, scoresheet revision after every competition, unlimited edits, revisions and upgrades for the season. We will have access to a team of professionals whose sole purpose is to drive up our scores on the scoresheet
